Candy Dish Blog

The Official Candy Blog of the National Confectioners Association

I decided to do a very scientific study to determine what people’s favorite candies were but had neither the time nor other resources to put all that together, so I turned to my favorite research tool: Twitter Search. After all, if people are talking about it on Twitter, it’s got to be thorough and accurate, right?

Honestly, it was more curiosity than anything. What do people like? I searched for “is my favorite candy” and got these results. What surprised me most was that candy corn was on the first two listings returned. I love candy corn too but I thought more people did not have the appreciation for it that I did. What disappointed me is that nobody indicated that circus peanuts (the king of squishy banana-flavored candy) were their favorite. I guess there’s no accounting for taste.

What’s your favorite candy? Here’s what others said:

Do you think it’s possible to Love AND Hate ‘em, Brian? If so, that’s the relationship I have with circus peanuts. Weird and yummy all at the same time.

Candy corn on the other hand is amazing, but only at Halloween.

My favorite candy is the black and red raspberry candies. I love the bumpy texture on the outside, the coloring, the soft inside, and I think they really taste great. I never seem to be able to find them in regular stores only in specialty shops. On my day to day candy hunt runts are my favorite candy to gorge on…the bananas are #1.

  4. Susan – Circus Peanuts are nothing but pure goodness. As you know, what keeps them on the shelves and not in my mouth is the gelatin, which doesn’t play well with my vegetarian diet.

Christine – I love those too! Thanks for the memory. I had forgotten about them. I wonder where I can go for lunch that I can find these…

Christine – I also love those blackberry and raspberry candies! Once I was at a meeting at Jelly Belly and the man I was meeting with had a HUGE jar of them on his desk. It was all I could do to keep from diving right in. It’s a hazard of working in this industry.
