I have to apologize to my coworkers today. I smell a bit like household oil because I lubricated the license plate bolts on my new car I bought yesterday. New to me, not to the world. In other words, it’s used. I just can’t wash this smell away for some reason. I felt like Lady MacBeth, I scrubbed my hands so much.

Free peanut M&Ms in Falls ChurchJust this morning, as my piece on economics and candy machines was being published, I was at the DMV Select office in Falls Church, VA, where I was delighted to see this vending machine with Peanut M&Ms in it. Actually, it wasn’t so much of a vending machine as it was a dispensing machine. No charge for candy. Is America a great place or what?

Better still, if the City of Falls Church condones free dispensing of candy to its residents, I have to love the place all the more. I only wish I had business to visit that office more often and maybe bring along Mr. Goodbar from Candy Yum-Yum, who was the economic analyst who first brought the issue of bags vs. machines to our attention.
