Hot ChocolateMy mother makes a great mix for those who like hot chocolate. Well, of course you like it. Why wouldn’t you like hot chocolate?

Ingredients
2 cups sugar
2 cups dry milk
2 cups powdered non-dairy creamer
1 cup cocoa
1/2 cup instant coffee

Mom just puts it all in a giant zipper bag, mixes it and then mixes two tablespoons per cup of hot water. I like it a little stronger so I tend to add more of the mix.

The really nice thing about this mix is that it keeps for a good long time. Also, it’s scalable, as long as you have a container to mix and store it in. Want to make enough to last through the rest of the winter? As long as you have the ingredients, you can do it all at once.

The hard part about this and all other hot chocolate recipes is what to put on top. Do you go with the traditional marshmallows or, my favorite, whipped cream? This is where Mom and I differ. She has been a long-standing proponent of marshmallows floating on the tops of hot drinks. Me, I prefer whipped cream. I am like a black sheep in the family because of it.

Which do you prefer?
