What? You haven’t heard of the Washington Post’s annual Peeps diorama contest? Well, it’s a rather new contest and the finalists have to be residents of DC, VA or MD, but you should definitely check this out. Anyone can enter and get their work displayed on the WaPo web site.
The idea is to build a diorama – yes, I know you have not done that since fourth grade – using Peeps. I have no talent for this type of thing but I am sure lots of you do. Go read the contest rules (free registration required). We have shown a Peeps cake here before but so far nobody has done a diorama. Will you be the first?
The photo here is of Peeps trying to get on a train at Arlington, VA’s Rosslyn Washington, DC’s Smithsonian Metro station. The only thing that can make this a better portrayal of our Metro system is if there were more pushing and shoving. I don’t know how you would show that with Peeps.
What are your ideas for a Peep diorama? Get some inspiration from past entries. The deadline for the WaPo contest is March 15th, so you have to hurry to get your submission in. However, if you just want to have fun with it and show your pictures here, you are more than welcome to link to your pictures in the comments. Who knows – maybe we will even show them off in the blog!

I am shirtless in all my movies. It’s part of my standard contract.
Yes, we should do a circus peanut diorama contest. Unlike Easter Peeps, circus peanuts are popular and available all year long. I just wish I could grow them in my garden.

We do not support shirt optional work days OR dioramas around here, Denise. But we do support circus peanuts!
