Chocolate StampsI know – you thought it was a recipe or new candy or something. Sorry about that. They are, indeed, French stamps. France recently released a set of stamps in the shape of a chocolate bar in commemoration of the 400th anniversary of the arrival of chocolate in the ports of Bayonne. Not only do they look like chocolate, but they reportedly carry the scent of chocolate as well. As far as I can tell, they just smell like my computer screen. Apparently scents don’t carry through the internet as much as I would like them to.

I think these stamps are a fine idea. Celebrating something so integral to our lives as chocolate seems like a good thing to do. Plus, we now get to celebrate more of France here on the Candy Dish Blog other than just its relevance to Cinco de Mayo. Vive la France! Vive le chocolat!

Do you think the US Postal Service should commemorate chocolate like this as well? Maybe we don’t have as long a history of enjoying the delicacy but we sure have loved it from the word go. After all, the USPS has stamps of other foods, like tropical fruits and dolphin. Why not chocolate?
