Many thanks to About.com writer Elizabeth LaBau for writing up this recipe, which incorporates the best of both worlds – chocolate and candy corn. It reminds me a bit of the Bob’s Country Bunker scene in “The Blues Brothers” when the guys asked what kind of music the bar liked to play. “We have both types – country and western.” I am definitely making this if I get invited to a Halloween party.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup white chocolate chips
- 1 cup candy corn
Preparation:
- Prepare a cookie sheet by lining it with aluminum foil.
- In separate bowls, melt the chocolates in the microwave or over a double boiler.
- Stir ½ cup candy corn into the dark chocolate, and pour the chocolate onto the foiled pan. Using a spoon or spatula, smooth the chocolate out in an even layer. It does not have to cover the whole pan.
- Take a spoon and scoop small amounts of white chocolate over the dark chocolate in a random pattern. Use a toothpick or the tip of a knife to swirl the two chocolates together. Don’t swirl too much, you want to be able to see the distinct chocolates in the end.
- Place the remaining ½ cup candy corn over the wet chocolates, sprinkling randomly and pressing them gently into the chocolate until they adhere.
- Put the chocolate in the refrigerator for 30 minutes to harden.
- When the bark is firm, remove it from the foil and break it into pieces.

Where is that giant candy corn? I need to go there!

It came from a really big cob. The photo caption references DCA, but that must be other than our local airport. At least, I have never seen it there. Although, if you want to fly in to DC, we would be glad to have you visit and would even let you feed and pet the oompa loompas.

Hi Carl and Patti, and anyone else reading this blog,
That is ME in the photo! What a surprise to see it on this website…thanks for linking back to my flickr page, although, I would appreciate if next time, Carl, to please ask me first before putting up one of my photos on your site. I would appreciate that.
“DCA” is referring to Disney’s California Adventure, across the way from the original Disneyland. They have these big letters that spell out “CALIFORNIA” in the front of the turnstiles. During Halloween, they “candy corn” the letters. So, I am leaning against the “A” at the end of “CALIFORNIA”. Hope that clears things up Patti.

Thanks for the DCA info, Sandra!
Sorry to use your photo without asking, but that’s one of the cool things about the Creative Commons license. It streamlines usage like this by giving advanced permission for people to use your work.

Hey Carl,
I have no problem with you using the photo, and yes, it is under creative commons, but I just think “netiquette” would dictate since I am actually in the photo, it would have been nice to have a heads up before posting. I just like to keep track of where my photos end up online, especially if I am the subject in the photo.
All water under the bridge. Great recipe and Happy Halloween!
