You are probably starting to think about what you are making for New Year’s. Here are some great recipes for treats to feed your fellow revelers to help ring in the new year, so get your shopping lists ready and let’s get to cooking. I think this year’s theme is finger food. Easy to make, easy to serve and less clean-up.

  • Buckeyes – essentially peanut butter balls dipped in chocolate.
  • Chocolate-covered strawberries – anything can be made better by dipping it in chocolate.
  • Truffles – yes, you can do it. It’s easier than you think. Or try this recipe. Or this. Or this. Or this. Or this.
  • Chocolate snowballs – a good winter motif.
  • Candy mice – what? you thought I would forget about these things?
  • Rolo Pretzel Turtles – Chocolate? Good. Caramel? Good. Pretzel? Good.
  • Mamie Eisenhower’s fudge – Good enough for Ike, good enough for me.

Of course, you could just set up a candy buffet, like Susan did for her wedding. That was pretty darned good too.

What creations are you planning for your New Year’s festivities?

  1. We made peanut butter fudge cake! This is a delicacy from my wife’s great grandmother’s cookbook. I think it has its origins from the Blair House in DC. I’d share the recipe, but my wife’s family would disown me! Anyway, know this…it’s amazing. Home made chocolate cake with lots of peanut butter fuge icing! What could be better!
