It’s natural that those of us in the confectionery industry are more than a little alarmed by the increasingly hysterical suggestions that eating any food with sugar in it will cause our health to spiral downward. Fortunately, we’re not alone in our concern. NPR health and policy blogger Barbara King wrote last week that “while it is sensible for any of us concerned with good health to limit consumption of sugary items, it’s clear to me that an alarmist “sugar is toxic” mantra isn’t in the service of good science communication — or public health.”
King’s blog “Obesity and the Toxic Sugar Wars” is worth a read. What do you think?
